Pictures of a father swan carrying his young babies between his wings is making the Internet emotional. The photos, which were shared by photographer Matthew Raifman on his Instagram handle, is creating quite a buzz on social media. Raifman shared the birds’ emotional story with his followers on the gram.
In the pictures, three cygnets can be seen snuggled between their father’s wings while the fourth one trails behind. Sharing their pictures, Raifman wrote that the mother swan died a few days after giving birth to six babies due to unknown causes. While one of the babies drowned, another had to be rescued by animal control. Other four swan babies remain by the father’s side.
“One of the most heartbreaking and heartwarming stories in a while. Last week, six baby swans were born in Boston. The mother died a few days later of unknown causes. One of the cygnets drowned; another had to be rescued by animal control. But this papa swan, left to his own, is rising to the challenge. Today, I finally got a chance to photograph them and found three of the four remaining cygnets hitching a ride on dad while the fourth trailed close behind. I ran to a bridge just in time to catch them entering the Esplanade lagoon. Hopefully, our newest swan family is in the clear, but at least all of Boston is pulling for them (sic),” Matthew Raifman wrote.
The birds’ story has made the Internet emotional. “Omg this story and these images bring me to tears the dad taking on the babies is just so amazing. Everything about this is amazing thank you for sharing (sic),” wrote an Instagram user. “Amazing shots, Matthew—and that story brought tears to my eyes (sic),” another comment read. “Wow… Amazing shots. Never know that’s how they carry their babies (sic),” wrote another user.
