BMW Motorrad took the wraps off the Concept CE 02, a smart, electric urban mobility machine concept at IAA 2021.
The ongoing IAA 2021 will see many unveils/debuts of a variety of electric urban mobility solutions and BMW Motorrad unveiled one such machine. The BMW Motorrad Concept CE 02 is a two-wheeled urban mobility machine, fuelled by electricity (see the pun there?) and the design draws inspiration from BMW scooters and motorcycles. BMW says that the Concept CE 02 features new proportions and modern forms of single-track mobility in an urban environment. The two-wheeler is targeted at people who are above 16 years of age and have not ridden a two-wheeler before, but are open to the experience.
The BMW Concept CE 02 weighs about 120 kg and has an 11 kW motor. The top speed is 90 kmph and the range on single charge is said to 90 kilometres (as per WMTC regulations) as well. BMW says that the model has been designed to offer high fun factor and straightforward yet stylish commuting. BMW even goes on to say that the design could be likened to a skateboard on two wheels.
Thanks to the flat vehicle body, the centre of gravity is low and the seat height is kept low as well. The continuous seat reflects the versatility of the concept. Since there are no foot operated levers, the seating position is flexible and there is space for storing small items between the seat and the frame as well. The Concept CE 02 gets a square black LED headlight with four distinct LED elements and the rear gets an LED taillight as well. there’s a small colour screen on the handlebar and in terms of cycle parts, you get a single-sided swingarm along with chunky 15-inch wheels featuring disc brakes.
