The Market Police have arrested 18 members involved in a pre-planned dacoity executed under the guise of a gold sale. The complainant was lured with an offer of 1 kg gold at a 5% discount for liquid cash. Accused, posing as SOT Rachakonda officials, entered the premises, assaulted the complainant, and fled with cash and mobile phones.
A secondary group later intercepted the primary accused and unlawfully took possession of the stolen cash. Seized property includes ₹43.21 lakhs in cash, 57 grams of gold ornaments, 23 mobile phones, 2 cars, and 4 two-wheelers. The operation was planned on June 18 and executed in Bowenpally. 10 accused are currently absconding. Investigation involved extensive CCTV analysis and witness statements.
The case was solved under the supervision of DCP North Zone, Ms. Rashmi Perumal, IPS.
The public is advised to exercise caution and report suspicious high-value transactions to the police.
